Training methods
What training methods do you use?
Reward-based, science-backed training. I teach your dog what to do instead of punishing what they get wrong — using food, toys, play and praise. No prong, choke or shock collars. [Confirm this matches your approach.]
Will my dog only listen when I have treats?
No. Treats help early on, while we’re teaching something new. Then we fade them out and swap in real-life rewards your dog already loves — sniffing, walks, play and your attention.
Session length
How long is a session?
Most sessions run about [60 minutes]. Puppy sessions are often shorter, around [45 minutes] — little brains get tired fast.
How many sessions will we need?
It depends on your dog and your goals. Manners work often takes [3–4 sessions]; reactivity and anxiety usually take longer. After the evaluation I’ll give you an honest estimate — no surprise add-ons.
What to expect
What happens at the first visit?
We start with your goals and your dog’s history. Then I watch how your dog handles their normal world — the house, the doorbell, the walk. You’ll leave with a clear plan and one or two things to start practicing right away.
Do I need to be there?
Yes — you’re half the team. Everyone who lives with your dog is welcome to join, kids included. The more consistent everyone is, the faster things change.
What should I have ready?
Your dog’s favorite treats (cut small), a flat collar or harness, and a regular 4–6 ft leash. I’ll bring anything else we need.
Ages & breeds
What ages do you work with?
Puppies from [8 weeks] through seniors. It’s never too late to learn — older dogs often surprise their people.
Do you work with all breeds?
Yes — all breeds, sizes and mixes. [Note any exceptions here, e.g. dogs with a serious bite history may need a different first step.]
